Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is permanent jewelry?
Permanent jewelry is custom fit without a clasp, creating a beautifully seamless look. Meant to be worn at all times, permanent jewelry is welded together using a special micro-welding machine. The welder sparks, creating a high heat to fuse the metals together.
-
What does gold-filled mean?
Gold filled jewelry is constructed by bonding multiple thick layers of gold to a brass base material using heat and pressure. Due to the bonding process and significantly higher gold content, the outer layer of gold better withstands daily wear than gold-plated materials, which can often begin breaking down within days or weeks of consistent wear.
-
Is permanent jewelry right for me?
Permanent jewelry is not for everyone, and it is important to consider safety and personal preferences before welding jewelry. Consider if you engage in activities in which it would be typically unsafe to wear jewelry. Customers engaging in hobbies, sports, and use of tools or other equipment in which jewelry being snagged could result in injury, are advised against receiving permanent jewelry.
-
What if I need to remove my jewelry?
While intended to be worn indefinitely, there are some scenarios in which permanent jewelry may need to be removed including but not limited to removal for medical procedures such as MRIs or surgery. It is advised that customers remove their permanent jewelry prior to engaging in any activities that risk injury if the jewelry is snagged.
Permanent jewelry can easily be removed by cutting the welded jump ring using a pair of nail clippers or scissors. If removed properly without damaging the original chain, customers can have their jewelry re-welded for a small fee.

How do I care for my jewelry?
Be mindful when engaging in daily activities to avoid damage to your jewelry. For safety and comfort, chains used for permanent jewelry are dainty in style and delicate by nature. Precious metals are soft and may be subject to scratching, stretching, bending, or breaking if pulled.
Exposure to chemicals should be minimal. Chemicals present in hair care and cosmetic products, perfumes, lotions, and cleaning agents can potentially discolor jewelry. Practice care when using these products to avoid unnecessary exposure.
Regularly clean your jewelry, and polish as needed. Jewelry can be cleaned using an ultra soft-bristled tooth brush and a mild dish soap. Sterling silver is prone to tarnishing, while gold-filled items are less likely to tarnish. Polishing cloths are a great tool to remove tarnish and maintain and restore shine. Solara offers a polishing cloth and care card with each jewelry purchase.
